‘Facebook Home’ has launched, but what is it?

Facebook have been looking for a way to push relevant advertising onto mobile users for a while.

They pondered taking on the iPhone and Blackberry with their very own branded phone but the question was clear – why would people buy it? It would also have left Facebook way behind the competition and their reach would be severely hampered.

Facebook ‘Nearby’ – How to get a Graph Search head start

‘Nearby’ is a way for users to like, rate and recommend businesses and places in their local area -  it adds a little bit more information about where you are than the current  ‘check in’ option. Facebook Graph Search – What does it mean for your business?

Facebook announced this week that they are revamping how users search for content.
On a basic level, ‘Graph Search’ lets you look for things your friends like and engage with. You could for example be searching for ‘Friends who like the Foo Fighters’ – this would lead to a screen filled with pals who love rocking hard to Dave Grohl’s band.

Timeline or not to Timeline, it isn't a question

Timeline or not to Timeline, it isn't a question

Facebook Timeline for Brand Pages has arrived, and will be compulsory by 30th March. The Timeline format for brands is quite similar to Timeline for personal profiles and so many people will already be familiar with the layout. It employs a cover photo at the top of the Page, and the Page is separated into two main columns by a dividing line, which represents the passage of time. There are some brilliant opportunities for brands across this format, as well as some pitfalls which if you aren’t careful could damage your brand image. When you are ready to change over to Timeline you will enter an editing period where only your Page Admin can see the Timeline, while everyone else including your fans will see the old design giving you time to make vital edits and updates.
